Ford Fiesta Powershift Automatic is the new offering from Ford India Pvt. Ltd. This automatic C-segment sedan has been launched in the Indian market on 28th February 2012. "The all new Fiesta powershift automatic will further open up this segment. This new variant comes with a very affordable pricing and better fuel efficiency than the manual one," Ford India President and MD Michael Boneham told reporters.
With six speed Ford Powershift dual clutch automatic transmission, the new Fiesta will appear as a leader in its segment. As per reports, the 1.5 Litre Ti-VCT petrol engine of this car is supported by a six speed dual transmission. Compared to the five speed manual gearbox, the automatic transmission system will deliver higher fuel economy increasing the efficiency of the sedan. It is expected that the car will deliver an overall mileage of around 16.86 kmpl.
The new Ford Fiesta is loaded with a hill hold function, and a creep function to support it during heavy traffic. Compared to conventional automatics, the dual clutch gearbox loaded in the car is lighter and more responsive. For the first time, dual clutch Powershift automatic gearbox is provided in a C-segment car in India although all Fiestas across the globe have this technology.
The company has launched two variants of this car in the Indian market to lure buyers. Base variant is called ‘Style’, whereas the premium variant is named as ‘Titanium’. As per reports, the Style’ variant has been introduced with a price tag of Rs. 899,000, whereas price of Ford Fiesta Titanium Automatic is fixed at Rs. 970,300. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, New Delhi. By 2015, the company plans to introduce 8 new models in the country, and the Ford Fiesta Powershift Automatic launch is a part of it.
