Rickshaw owners can now get the benefit of a Rs. 12,000 subsidy from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to install CNG kits. Against Rs. 2 crore last year, Rs 12 crore has been allocated by the civic body this year for this purpose. Using this benefit, 1,600 rickshaws installed CNG kits last year. As per reports, this year, 10,000 rickshaws owners will be benefited due to this scheme.
For a CNG kit, a registration must be made by the owners in the regional transport office (RTO). After this process, the owner can apply for a subsidy. The owners must also have other documents like registration certificate, driving license, PUC certificate, CNG fit bill, rickshaw permit and fitness certificate to get the benefit of the subsidy provided by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Mangesh Dighe, PMC environment officer said that about this subsidy program, many rickshaw owners have made enquiry. In order to encourage the usage of CNG fuel, which is environment friendly, the benefit has been offered to the auto owners. At the Environment Education Centre, Mahtre Bridge, Rajendranagar and Indradhanushya Centre for Citizenship, the forms of the subsidy are available.
