Delhi will be hosting the 11th Auto Expo with over 1,500 participants from 24 countries from 5th January to 11th January. Delhi International Auto Expo will be organised by the Confederation of the Indian Industry (CII) in association with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer (SIAM) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA). It is the only auto show that is accredited by Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA).
“Mobility for All” is the theme of 2012 expo and participation of many international car manufacturers will be seen despite the slow demand momentum. A special focus will be given to the green technologies and environment. The auto expo will witness a surge in auto makers from China, France, Germany, Italy and Japan along with Indian automobile manufacturers.
The expo will host 50 new launches including cars, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles. It would be the largest event, with 32 cars launch, including 24 domestic and 8 global, and 9 two-wheeler unveiling. The remaining will be included in commercial vehicles and ‘others’ category. This information was revealed at the Delhi Auto Expo curtain raiser by the members of the organising committee. Rajive Kaul, Chairman, Steering Committee, Auto Expo 2012, S. Sandilya, President SIAM, Vikram Kirloskar, Vice-President SIAM and Arvind Kapur, President, ACMA addressed the media.
Vikram Kirloskar stated “Like in the past, the 11th Auto Expo will also showcase future vehicles that will be launched in the Indian market during the coming months and years, and it is hoped that the event will be a harbinger of revival of the industry in the New Year”.
The exhibition will be held in 16 halls, 10 hangars and outdoor space. Due to limited space, many auto manufacturers and component makers were turned down by the officials. Besides, the number of visitors is restricted to one lakh a day.
The auto component makers from countries like Belarus, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and UAE will grace the event. This will make expo “India’s global automotive show”, said Arvind Kapur.
India would also be portrayed as a leader of green mobility as many Indian car makers are focusing on the use of alternative fuels and electric and hybrid vehicles. 5th January 2012, the first day of the show will be observed as the Goodwill Day and will be open for media personnel and physically challenged.
The other highlights of the expo will be pavilions for accessories, audio, alternate fuels, gas technologies, design, IT diesel equipment and the ‘asli-naqli’ pavilion. These pavilions would emphasise on disadvantages and dangers involved in using fake vehicle. Along with these, there are many other attractions that will contribute towards the success of the event.
