Mumbai: Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continued its remarkable performance in India. Having already surpassed its 2009 sales figure in August this year, the company has clocked sales of 357 units in October, with a 208 percent growth over October 2009 sales (116 units). The company has recorded a growth of 75 percent during the period Jan – Oct 2010, with a sale of 2,535 units (1,449 units, Jan – Oct 2009).
“This record performance reflects the appeal that our brand enjoys with discerning Indian customers as well our business partners and confirms that we are on a sustainable and profitable growth path. We will look at strategic initiatives both on the capacity and the network front, in order to keep up with this growth. Based on our current global success, our market leadership in Europe and China and our No. 1 position in the luxury SUV segment in India, we anticipate a strong fourth quarter and an exceptional growth rate for the year as a whole,” said Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India.
“We further extended our dealership network in India with the opening of our new state-of-the-art showroom in Jaipur. We will open at least two more dealerships before the end of this year. This expansion aims at establishing our footprint across the country to access a larger customer base. We will also introduce our flagship model, the top of the line Audi A8L in India in early 2011. We are confident that the new Audi A8L will play a vital part in our India growth story,” he added.
The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8 available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West and Pune. Further developments include Surat, Mumbai South, Coimbatore, Indore and Lucknow.
