      Audi India aims to take sales to 30,000 units per annum by 2020

      Audi India, the fully owned subsidiary of Germany based leading car maker Volkswagen, said on Tuesday that it is aiming to take its annual sales to 30,000 units per annum in the Indian market by year 2020, accounting for a tenfold increase over its existing sales of 3,000 units per annum. If Audi India manages to reach this sales mark by 2020, India will be among the top 10 markets for Audi around the world.

      Speaking to the reporters at Audi’s annual press conference in Ingolstadt (Germany), Audi AG Board Member (Marketing and Sales) Peter Schwarzenbauer said, "In the long run, which is say about 2020, we are expecting to sell 25,000-30,000 units in India and this will make it the top 10 markets of the company.” He added, "In India, we assume this year sales will be around 4,500 units. We expect this to grow to 15,000 units in 2015."

      Meanwhile, the company is eying to roll-out its much awaited hatchback A1, sports utility vehicle Q3 and concept sedan A3 in the Indian market in coming years. "We are currently looking at the possibility of launching A1, A3 and Q3 in India. In the next 12-15 months, we will be taking a decision on that. The A1 and Q3 can build brand as well volume.”
