After acquiring zenith in luxury segment in the Indian automotive industry Audi plans to foray into a new segment. Audi A3 is a new offering from the German car maker which is yet to be launched in India. The 4.46 meter long saloon has taken most of the design cues from Audi A2 Sportsback. The capacious saloon can comfortably seat five adults inside the cabin and offers an ample boot space of 425 litres. Expected to be launched in the second half of 2014, Audi has high expectations from this saloon.
As far as the price is concerned, sources close to development reveal that it will be priced a tad higher than the premium hatchbacks. Audi A3 sedan will have to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz CLA and BMW 1-Series sedan. The company eyes at foraying into a new segment that lies between the premium hatchbacks and Audi A4 sedan, as it feels that this segment has an immense potential.
The saloon will be proffered in various engine options giving customers fair choices to pick from. At the 2014 Auto Expo, the company also displayed the A3 Cabriolet which is also expected to make debut in the coming time. Apart from this, Audi Q3 S, which comes with a five speed manual transmission is doing well. Audi is also envisaging bringing stripped down versions of its cars in future.
