Over the last week, executive car Audi A6, from the German luxury car brand Audi, has achieved several high-profile awards. Some of the awards include the National Business Review (NBR) Car of the Year Awards, Luxury Car of the Year in the AMI NZ Autocar Car of the Year Awards, along with the international Golden Steering Wheel competition.
In all the reputed independent awards, the competitors were short-listed by the award organisers, therefore, receiving nomination in every award is an achievement. Audi, New Zealand General Manager, Dane Fisher said, “The Audi A6 has received top honours in three independent competitions is a true testament to what an outstanding vehicle this is.”
Applauding the Audi A6, the NBR stated, “The sharper, more dynamic look of the Audi A6 and other advances, such as greatly increased fuel efficiency, have made it our best car of the year.”
According to NBR, the car of the year was adjudged on the basis of exterior styling, interior looks and feel, luggage capacity, environmental friendliness, drive quality and fuel economy.
Peter Louisson from New Zealand's Autocar Magazine mentioned that honouring Audi A6 as the Luxury Car of the Year was a unanimous decision of the judges. Audi A6 managed to impress the jury with its elegant appearance, flawless interior furnishing and built, along with well equipped electronic and safety features. Louisson further added, “'Capable and refined' were common comments. The performance of the high-output 3.0L turbo-diesel and seven-speed twin-clutch transmission also impressed.”
Audi has won the international Golden Steering Wheel awards 21 times since 1975. The competition has a jury that consist of VIPs, technical experts, professional motor racing and rally drivers and the editor-in-chief of leading German automobile magazine, Auto Bild.
For the past four years, Audi has maintained the leading position in the luxury segment of New Zealand's car market. Thus, with three prestigious awards for Audi A6, the company marks a great finish to an eventful year.
