Yet another British car maker, Aston Martin, is ready to enter the Indian market. The company came into limelight few decades ago with James Bond movies. The company was established in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford and was a part of US car giant Ford from 1994 to 2007. Aston Martin cars will hit the Indian roads by December this year with a price tag of up to Rs 3 crore.

Infinity Cars in Delhi, who already sell BMW cars in India, will be the official importers and retailers of the cars in India. "Infinity will open the booking process for Aston Martin from next week. The cars are likely to be delivered in the next 5-6 months," a source said.

Aston Martin is set to introduce four models initially in the Indian market - V8 Vantage, DB9, Rapide and DBS. The cars will range between Rs. 1.5 crores to Rs. 3 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). "While V8 and DB9 will come for Rs. 1.35 crore and Rs. 1.9 crore, Rapide and DBS will be offered for Rs. 2.3 crore and Rs. 2.8 crore. Above this, customers have to pay for the insurance and registration charges," said source.

While spotting a Mercedes or a BMW on Indian roads was a rarity in India few years back, the Indian car market scenario has changed drastically recently. Now Porsche and Bentley, Rolls Royce have considerable takers, and Aston Martin sports cars will be another jewelled addition to the car market in India.
