Indians, currently gripped by cricket fever with 1st test between India and Australia being underway, will be fed with another adrenaline rush as the New Year welcomes the much-awaited 2012 Auto Expo.

The auto industry is all-prepared to give the perfect start to 2012 counting on Asia's largest automotive show that opens in Delhi from 7th January. With plethora of debutants and advanced variants making their way to the expo this time, the mega event would irrefutably surmount the unproductive phase of 2011.

Eventually, car makers have been shot in the arm and are ready to put the past behind and resume operations with much more intensity. As a matter of fact, 2100 exhibitors based in 30 different countries are coming up with consummate products to provide a window to peep into the future of auto industry. Visitors can expect a potpourri of cars, wherein SUVs would win the majority as car companies are banking on the rapidly growing segment to lift their incessantly falling sales figures in the Indian market.

India's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, has planned to introduce a concept compact SUV at the expo. Audi, too, would set the stage to bring out the concept production of its widely acclaimed SUVs in order to further expand the portfolio that exists in the market. Luxury segment topper BMW will be accompanied by its Mini Cooper that would be launched amidst thousands of excited visitors. Peugeot Citroen and Ferrari will showcase their unique line-up of products to tap the potentially sound Indian market.

Mahindra & Mahindra is set to attract innumerable eyes this year with unmatched product display. “We will be displaying some relevant products and some surprises from Mahindra two wheelers, the Navistar JV, Mahindra and Mahindra and Ssangyong,” Pawan Goenka, President, automotive sector, M&M, said.

In addition, bike manufacturers have decided to use the coveted platform to suffice the changing needs of the Indian buyers in the best way. Honda that would, for the first time, enter the Auto Expo without its partner Hero is expected to display India-oriented motorcycles. “We will possible display our first 100cc category motorcycle which is really good. We will also showcase scooters and motorcycles for mass production and some other interesting things,” said the Vice-President, marketing and sales, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), N.K. Rattan.

The American bike manufacturer Harley Davidson would also have a stand in the Auto Expo 2012 where it would display its new models line-up.

Thus, even after getting severe blows from the unbidden trends, car companies see the Auto Expo as a fast-healing formula in the coming time.
