Local arm of French auto maker, Renault has rolled out tweaked version of its B segment hatchback Pulse. The 2014 Renault Pulse now comes with spruced up interiors. The latest upgrade has been given to the vehicle in wake of probing dim sales of the Micra based small car. Modified interiors of the new Pulse share striking resemblance with 2013 Micra hatchback.
Exteriors have been left untouched with no modifications; inside the cabin the company has also embedded some new features including a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB and centre console with piano black finish. Apart from the restyled centre console the interiors also flaunt rectangular shaped AC vents and reworked instrumentation. Among the comfort and convenience features, automatic climate control, tilt adjustable steering, start/stop button and several other features have been equipped in the 2014 Pulse.
Renault has confined the tweaks to interiors only, mechanically too, the hatchback does not show any signs of change. Pulse is offered in India in both diesel and petrol engine options, the petrol variants come with a 1.2 litre gasoline engine that a produces a top power of 76 PS along with a peak torque of 104 Nm. Diesel version on the other hand is equipped with a 1.5 litre dCi motor that generates a pinnacle power of 64 PS and a top torque of 160 Nm.
Both petrol and diesel engines are paired to a five-speed manual transmission. Renault Pulse competes with likes of Maruti Swift, Toyota Etios Liva and Ford Figo in the B segment. Maruti Swift is also up for an upgrade, the tweaked version of the MSI’s flagship hatchback will be rolled out by festive season, Figo too will get a comprehensive upgrade. It seems that things are going to get tougher for the contenders in B segment.
