Mercedes-Benz has pulled covers off the 2013 SLS AMG GT, which is expected to be launched across the dealerships in November 2012. Though this all new car sports ‘GT’ Badge, it is more efficient as compared to the existing outgoing model. Its Coupe and Raodster forms will replace all the previous models of the SLS AMG. The 2013 make, under the hood, houses a powerful and familiar 6.2 litres V8 powertrain which has been tweaked to deliver an improved 581 hp compared to 561 hp delivered by the previous AMG. However, the torque has been maintained at 650 Nm by Mercedes Benz. The car maker has customised the 7-speed, speed shift dual-clutch transmission unit to quicken the gear shift in manual mode in order to handle the extra power. The effect of all the tweaking and customisation can be witnessed in the acceleration of the car model which can now attain the 100 kmph figure from standstill in just 3.6 seconds.

With a stroke of red colour over the central console, leather seat, floor mats and seat belts the interiors have received a major overhaul in terms of cosmetics. The appealing steering wheel which has been finished in Alcantara is also stitched in red. There are other add-ons to enhance the X-factor of the car including carbon fibre add-ons, a Bang & Olufsen high-end audio system, carbon ceramic brakes and different wheel designs, all of which are in line with Mercedes-Benz tradition.

AMG’s Adaptive Performance Suspension set-up is also tweaked to deliver performance in the new revamped model. The new car rides on a more aggressively tuned dampers and stiffer springs as per the car maker. Arriving through Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, the car will also be made available in the country.
