Toyota Motors, the Japan based leading auto maker, is gearing-up to showcase the updated version of its highest selling hybrid model – Toyota Prius - in the Indian auto market. The company will showcase the new Toyota Prius 2012 at the upcoming Delhi International Auto Expo in the month of January 2012.
Despite being a best seller in the foreign markets, the Toyota Prius hybrid model has been receiving a lukewarm response in the Indian auto market. The car is imported in India as a CBU (completely built unit), making it a bit expensive for the buyers of premium sedan segment.
As per the recent media reports, the new Toyota Prius hybrid model will be launched with a number of cosmetic changes and upgrades at both interior and exterior fronts. At the exterior, the new 2012 Prius will be carrying newly designed bumper at front with daytime running lights. Both headlamps and tail-lamps have are newly styled, making the facelift an attractive one. Moreover, the car carries newly designed 15 inch alloy wheels and power assisted wing mirrors.
Inside, the gray color interiors of the car have now been replaced by the black color, with a finishing touch gave by using silver inserts. Moreover, an advanced audio-infotainment system and newly added fabric seats further increases the upgraded list of the car.
However, the car will continue to carry the same petrol-electric engine system as is available in the previous generation models of the car. The engine is capable of delivering a peak power of 98 Bhp. The electric motor coupled with the engine further takes the total power of the system to 134 bhp by generating more 36 bhp. The fuel economy of the car is in the range of 20 to 22 km per liter.
