Hyundai Stargazer

Introduction 

Gazing at the success of the Kia Carens, Hyundai seems to looking at an equivalent MPV for India and it will most likely be the Stargazer. It was unveiled in Indonesia in June 2022 and is expected to come to the Indian market in 2023.

Exterior  

The fascia is inspired from the Staria and full LED DRLs. Lower is a front grille with a rectangular pattern flanked by vertically placed LED headlamps. At the back you get vertical tail lamps that are adjoined by a light stripe.

Interior and features  

The Stargazer in Indonesia is only available with a six-seat layout. The feature comprises an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless charger and roof-mounted aircon vents for rear passengers. Hyundai has given the Stargazer ADAS features like forward-collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot collision avoidance assist.

Powertrain 

The Stargazer is powered by a single 1.5-litre petrol engine which puts out 113bhp and 144Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired to a CVT and a six-speed manual gearbox. We expect the Indian market to also get the 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.  The Stargazer will go up against the Kia Carens, Maruti Suzuki XL6, and Toyota Innova Crysta.
