The BYD Seal was launched in India on 5 March 2024.

Exterior:

The BYD Seal is a four-door sedan with a sloping roofline and character lines on the bonnet and the doors. Then, the glossy black skirting on the side and front lip, along with the arrow-shaped inserts on the front bumper and the side fenders add to its visual appeal. Also, there are massive, gloss-black-finished diffusers at the rear. Further, the 18-inch alloy wheels are designed to be aerodynamic to reduce drag. The four-door sedan measures 4,800x1,875x1,460mm with a wheelbase of 2,920mm.

Interior:

The cabin of the BYD Seal is equipped with a massive and rotatable 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS, power front seats, mirrors, and windows, and a coloured heads-up display. The interior follows a black and silver theme with a fixed full-sized panoramic sunroof and a three-spoke steering wheel.

Engine, performance, and specifications:

In India, the base Dynamic model gets an RWD setup and the motor produces 201bhp/310Nm. The mid-level Premium variant’s motor has an output of 308bhp/360Nm. Meanwhile, the range-topping AWD version gets dual motors that produce 308bhp/670Nm. The ranges stand at 510km, 650km, and 580km, respectively.

In terms of charging, you get a 7kW home charger and a 3kW portable charger. The entry-level model can be charged at a maximum rate of 110kWh with a DC fast charger, while the Premium and Performance variants can be charged at 150kWh.

The Seal is being retailed in the Premium, Dynamic, and Performance AWD variants.

The BYD Seal has scored a full five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating.

Competition:

The top-spec BYD Seal is a rival for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and the Audi Q3.
