Tata Xenon XT Review

Xenon is a stylish 4-door pickup truck from Tata Motors. The production started in the year 2006, and it came into the pickup truck market in 2007. The car is stated to be one of the best designed models by Tata Motors. It started a new segment of cars in India as pickup trucks were not there earlier. Xenon XT comes in two variants, one is Ex 4x4, and the other one is Ex 4x2. Initially, it gained a lot of popularity in countries like Italy, Saudi Arabia and Poland, and thus Tata Motors decided to launch Xenon in India too. The car is made to look rough from the outside, but then it is well furnished from inside and provides comfort as well. Being an off-road vehicle, the car has very attractively designed exteriors and interiors. The things to consider in a pickup truck are its load capability, and Xenon doesn’t upset its users on this ground. With an efficient engine, the car develops good power. Top speed of around 160 kmph is attained using the five-speed manual transmission system that comes as standard future with the car. The car offers standard features of safety and is offered in four different colour options.

The car has a very stylish exterior look and is stated to be the most stylish pickup Truck by Tata Motors. Front of the car has radiator grille with a large logo of the Tata motors that look nice. Headlamps of the car are of high intensity and are very adjustable. . The body colored front end bumper combined with a pair of clear lens mist lamps. The bonnet of the car has a slidingreference with some fixed lines over it; this makes the car look fascinating. The car has a very large windscreen and the wipers area attached to them which helps in cleaning fog and rain. The car is highly spacious from inside and can easily accommodate five peoples. The loading area of the car is also very good. One antenna is also placed on the car’s roof so as to catch the signals.

The interior of the Tata Xenon is pretty good to look at and very comfortable too. The car is very spacious from inside. The seats are made up of good quality fabric, and the steering wheel is leather covered. The seats are very adjustable and comfortable to sit. The central support is awesome and very sophisticated with anelegant wood finish. The floor of the car is nicely carpeted which adds to the overall look of the car. It also has other features like open door indicator, low fuel indicator and warning system for seat belts. The car has a lot of storing space in it and contains space for various things. It also has a 12-volt power outletthat is essential to be there in a pickup truck.

Engine and Transmission

The Xenon XT has a direct injection common rail (Dicor) fuel supply scheme based 2.2 diesel engine. It has 16 valves and 4-cylinders thatadd to the functionality of the car. It can produce 138.1bhp at 4000rpm with 320Nm of torque. The Xenon has an effective 5-speed manual transmission gear box. The mileage of the car is pretty handy too and is good for Indian conditions.

Performance and Handling

The Xenon performs well with its 2.2-litre diesel engine that has a displacement volume of about 2179cc. The car can reach up to the speed of 160 kmph that is nice. The car handling is really good with the features like power steering. It also has Tiltable Steering column that adds to the convenience of thedriver.

Braking System

The car comes with vacuum supported independent hydraulic braking system. The front wheels of the car have aired disc brake system with identical pot calliper, and the back wheel of the car comes with type drum brake system that are auto adjustable. It also has an anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force circulation, which adds to the braking capability of the car.

The 2179 cc Diesel - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 12 kmpl in city and 14 kmpl on highways.

Safety Features

The car offers a lot of safety measures for its users which includes Airbags system EBD, Child Seats Port, Door intrusion Beam that provides stability to the car during any collision, Driver Seat Belt Warning system and tubeless tyres. One immobilizer is fitted in the car that adds to the theft security if the car. The car is surely the most stylish car that Tata offers, but there is nothing else to talk about it.

The Xenon main competition is with the Mahindra Genio, which is a Xylo based car.

  2. Well-furnished interior
  3. External Appearance

  1. Comes range is not good
  2. Engine makes a lot of sounds
  3. Fuel economy is poor
  4. Price doesn’t worth the features it provides
