An extreme off-roading initiative for Tata Motors Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) owners, the first season of Tata Motors Full Throttle Trail ended successfully at Taj Chandigarh on 27th May 2012. More than 35 Tata Motors vehicles took part in the event, which was kicked off at 10.00 am from Taj Chandigarh. Tata Safari, Tata Xenon, Tata Sumo and Tata Aria, in both 4x4 and 4x2 configurations, participated in the event and each vehicle showed the toughness and ruggedness of Tata cars. The trail was prepared specially for this event and customers in and around Chandigarh tested their vehicles and driving skills on the challenging and difficult tracks.

Regional Manager, PCBU North1, Tata Motors, Anand Totla, said, “We are delighted to host the first edition of the Tata Motors Full Throttle Trail in Chandigarh, and are overwhelmed with response and participation received from Tata Motors customers from in and around the city. Through off-roading events like this, customers not only have the opportunity to go off-roading but also experience the tough and enduring nature of Tata Motors SUVs.”

Various surfaces like slush beds, hills, bumpy courses and sand beds, among others, were part of the trail. Posing some high degree challenges to the contestants, the trail sprawled across two different venues near Mullanpur. In order to qualify as finishers, all the participants needed to reach the finish line within the defined time frame. Invariably, the event provided an adrenalin rush to all the participants.

Tata Motors has planned a total of 21 trails to be laid down in the next few months under this initiative. Each trail will be designed to exhibit the off-roading capabilities of Tata Motors SUVs in terms of the thrill, ruggedness, toughness and handling. This initiative will provide off-road enthusiasts the opportunity to experience serious off-road driving techniques first hand in their own vehicles close to their own cities.

'Tata Motors Full Throttle Experience' is another offering from the Tata Motors Full Throttle under Full Throttle banner. An off-roading expedition spanning a couple of days, Full Throttle Experience will be flagged off on 22nd June 2012 from New Delhi. In order to create a platform for the company to participate in motorsports and allied activities, Tata Motors Full Throttle was launched in February 2011. It also assists the car maker to organise and synchronise all the efforts and activities, such as development and testing, in the field of motorsports. Desert Storm, Dakshin Dare, Raid De Himalaya, Eastern Mountain Safari rally and the Hornbill International Motor rally are some of the renowned events where Tata Motors Full Throttle has marked a win.

Tata Motors gave birth to the SUV segment in India by bringing forward the Sierra in the year 1991. The distinction of being the first passenger car to sell more than 1 lac units within 3 years was Tata Sumo. With the launch of Safari in 1998, the company also became the first to launch a model which was a SUV in the true sense. This vehicle was the first in the country to feature Shift-on-the-fly (electronic) 4X4 by any car maker.

Launched in 2010, Aria was the most feature-packed vehicle, with features like Torque-on-Demand System, In-dash GPS-based navigation system, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), hydroform chassis and six airbags to begin with. Tata Sumo Gold, the premium Crossover Tata Aria, Tata Sumo Grande, Tata Safari 4x4, Tata Sumo 4x4 and the lifestyle pick-up Tata Xenon XT forms the impressive Utility Vehicle (UV) line up of the domestic auto giant.
