Pickup trucks have not found many takers in India in the past and even something from Tata, a significant player in the UV segment, like the Xenon has failed to capture the imagination of the buyers. Now it is all set to make a fresh start with a new model next year. As revealed in earlier spy shots, the 2017 Xenon might also get an automatic transmission system, to generate fresh interest.

The front gets a body-coloured single slat grille with a chrome garnish, while the bumper has been redesigned and gets enclosures for the fog lamps. The rear remains fairly the same except for redesigned cluster for pair of tail lamps. This revised Xenon is based on the new hydroformed chassis which has been speculated by various sources in the past. Along with the Indian market, the new model is likely to be introduced in international markets such as Australia, Thailand and South Africa.

The 2017 Tata Xenon is expected to continue with the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine but now in the VariCOR 400 state of tune where it produces 153bhp of power and 400Nm. India is likely to just get a six-speed manual transmission option, while the Australian market will get the automatic transmission option. More details about the vehicle will be known in the coming days.
