Reva Electric Car Company is said to be building the world’s largest electric car manufacturing plant in India. The new plant will be capable of manufacturing 30,000 units annually and the total investment will cost around Rs 30 crores which is approximately $6.1 million. The company is based in Bangalore and its new plant is expected to be ready by first quarter of 2010-11. There has been a sudden surge in the demand for electric cars, especially with the western markets and their governments choosing more eco-friendly cars over fossil fuel models.

Reva not only intends to make the most fuel efficient cars but its plant will also be more eco-friendly. There will be options for rain water harvesting, natural light ventilation, solar energy harvesting, steel structure technology and a CO2 monitor. It will also have a games room for its staff, canteen and electric buses for commuting to and from work. The complete manufacturing unit will be landscaped with plants and greenery all around.
