German car makers are venturing into greener pastures leaving their home lands. BRIC nations remain one of the most alluring destinations for their sales and growth. However, India and China out of these nations are also one of the most favoured destinations for setting up their manufacturing units owing to the low cost of production and cheap labour.

Volkswagen has already begun production in India for its small cars. It also has its manufacturing units in China and will be soon building its next big Greenfield facility at Foshan, Guangdong province, China. The plant will have a manufacturing capacity to build 300,000 units annually and operations are scheduled to begin from mid-2013.

Volkswagen recently reported that its sales in the Chinese market are up by 48 percent when it sold 778,000 units in the last calendar year. China has not only emerged as the biggest car market for the global auto manufacturers but also a safe haven for manufacturing.
