Volkswagen officially introduced its small car model Polo in Mumbai. The car is available in petrol and diesel models. The new cars are available in 6 different variants – 3 variants in 1.2L petrol model and 3 variants in 1.2L diesel model. These variants are named Highline, Comfortline and Trendline. Both the models are paired with 5-speed manual gear box. The 1.2L petrol model is priced at Rs. 4.34 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) while 1.2L diesel model is priced at Rs. 5.32 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
“We are very excited to bring our popular hatchback into India. The car has received an overwhelming response from customers during our showcase at the New Delhi Auto Expo and we are confident that they will love driving it too,” said Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd.
The company will start delivering the Volkswagen Polo petrol model from March while the diesel model will be available only from May 2010 onwards. The 1.2L petrol model delivers an output of 75 hp @ 5400 rpm and torque of 110nm at 3750 rpm. The diesel model delivers power of 75HP @ 4200 rpm and torque of 180 NM @ 2000 rpm.
