      Volkswagen owned Commercial Vehicle maker Scania starts trial runs of its trucks in the country

      Scania, the Swedish automobile manufacturer and subdivision of German auto giant Volkswagen Group, has commenced trial runs of a brand new line up of trucks on Indian roads. The company has undertaken a thorough research on the local driving on road and highway conditions before launching its Indian market oriented Commercial Vehicle (CV) fleet.

      Expressing his delight at the launch, Henrik Fagrenius, Managing Director (MD), Scania Commercial Vehicles India said, “Today is an important milestone for all of us at Scania. We believe that Indian truck buyers will have the benefit of an added choice – trucks with outstanding fuel performance and reliability that offer them value for their investment.”

      Commenting on latest development coming from the stables of Scania, Nekzad J. Parabia, Director of J. H. Parabia (Transport) Private Limited, Baroda said, “We value this relationship with Scania. Our expectations on the V8 engine truck are not only based on the high torque rating, but also that it should be a better powertrain for tough transportation assignments. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”

      Scania is one of the world's leading CV manufacturers and has ensured that its new Indian portfolio comes incorporated with world class features along with top-of-the-line build quality. The Volkswagen Group owned CV manufacturer has introduced - the R 500 6x4, the P 410 6x2, the G 460 6x4 and the P 360 4x2 trucks, which will compete in the Indian on-road haulage CV segment.

      The Scania G 460 6x4 and Scania R 500 6x4 are both heavy-duty puller trucks with the latter being fondly called 'King of the Road.' Both heavy duty trucks are more than capable of transporting Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC) across the length and breadth of Indian Territory, in the most demanding and tricky highway conditions. The Scania P 410 6x2 and Scania P 360 4x2 are both prime movers and boasts off a best-in-class fuel efficiency and turn around times, besides ensuring greater Life Cycle cost savings.

      According to Scania, its products in the Indian on-road haulage CV segment are going to be completely consumer oriented, besides offering extremely fuel efficient and reliable transportation solutions. The Swedish auto maker's Indian portfolio caters to emerging Indian CV transport sectors like long haul container handling, chemical, steel, special bulk transportation and ODC transportation.
