      Volkswagen India to Increases its Sales Target for India

      Volkswagen India recently inaugurated its newest dealership in Rajkot. Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, VW spokesperson stated that Volkswagen intends to increase its sales figures in India and intends to sell 3000 units in the country in 2009-2010. It also intends to increase its dealerships from 25 to 40 in the same year. The new dealerships will be coming up in Indore, Bhopal, Jalandhar, Khozhikode and Vijaywada Vijayawada which will be supplemented by those in Jaipur, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Surat, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, NOida, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Cochin, Goa and Kolkata.

      “In 2008, we sold 1,566 cars in India. During this financial year, we want to have cent per cent growth by selling over 3,000 cars,” Neeraj Garg, member of the Board and Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.

      Volkswagen is planning to bring its small car hatchback model Polo in India soon. It intends to establish its presence in the country to clock higher sales figures with its expanded presence pan India. VW currently sells sedan models like Jetta and Passat in India. The new dealerships from VW will be provided training for sales, servicing, spare parts and understanding of its overall business system.
