      Volkswagen announces recall of 5,81,090 cars in China

      German major automaker Volkswagen has announced a recall of about 5,80,000 cars in China. The recall has been announced post investigations that has been going-on since August. Defects in rear shaft has been identified post a lot of consumer complaints that prompted China's quality inspector to initiate an investigation.

      The investigation reportedly began after receiving complaints about the Sagitar sedan. Almost half of the complaints posted on Defect Information Collection System managed by China’s National Defective Motor Vehicle Recall Information Management, is from the owners of Sagitar sedan. The reports state that Volkswagen shall recall about 5,63,605 New Sagitar that has been manufactured between May 2011 and May 2014, and about 17,485 Beetle vehicles that have been affected with this defect.

      German carmaker Volkswagen shall use metal plates for the rear shaft axle. This change is expected to bring better stabilization to the car and shall also emit loud warning noises in event of cracks or any other damage of any kind. The recall will begin from February and the company shall fix the affected vehicles to customers satisfaction.
