Toyota Kirloskar Motor that launched the top-spec Fortuner 3.0L with automatic transmission, has now launched the low-spec variants of the Fortuner equipped with smaller displacement engine. The cheaper variants gets 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine with an optional automatic gearbox. The entry-level model is available in two variants. While the manual version is priced at Rs. 24.44 lakh, the automatic model costs Rs. 25.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The base variant is powered by the same 2494cc turbo-diesel engine that also powers the Innova. This engine is tweaked to offer more power output and torque value. It produces a top power output of 142bhp at 3400rpm and a peak torque of 343Nm between 1600-2800rpm. This engine is clubbed to either a five-speed manual gearbox or an optional five-speed automatic transmission. As a reminder, the Fortuner 3.0L is capable of developing 168bhp and 360Nm of torque.
Toyota is offering the Fortuner 2.5L in rear-wheel drive option only. It is offered with TRD (Toyota Racing Development) Sportivo body package as standard. The package includes a dual-tone radiator grille, rear spoiler, side skirts and body graphics. Instead of HID, the vehicle gets regular halogens. As standard, the entry-spec model gets leather seats, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, multi-functional steering wheel, climate control, touchscreen for audio, and reversing camera. The safety features include dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD, etc.
