The hatchback segment in India is expected to face a strong boost in the first quarter of 2015. Incidentally, the year 2014 was a super year for the automobile industry with a strong revival during the calendar, especially after a year of slump in 2013. A plethora of cars are set to be launched in the market, most of which are hatchbacks.
Renault India is expected to launch the XBA 800 cc hatchback. The small hatchback is among the three products from Renault set to be launched in 2015, the other two being Lodgy and a sub-compact MPV. The entry level hatch is expected to be based on the CMF-A platform and this was launched jointly by Nissan and Renault. The upcoming small cars from the manufacturer will see a new 800 cc, 3-cylinder petrol mill.
Tata Bolt and Kite hatches are all set to be introduced in the country. These hatchbacks are in same category of entry-level hatchbacks. The new model will replace the primitive Indica eV2. The company has put in lot of efforts behind the cars. There have been no clarifications regarding the engines; however, it is expected that the models might use the 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel mill to power the cars.
Datsun has already won hearts with the GO and is looking forward to launch a cheaper hatchback to compete against Alto 800. The hatchback will be also built on the CMF-A platform. The mill will be the 800 cc, 3-cylinder for the petrol model and is expected to hit the markets soon. Together with the Go+, the new model will definitely tale the company miles ahead in the market.
