Toyota Motor Corp has been severely hit worldwide with sales dipping each day since past few months. In the wake of ongoing crisis, falling sales and poor western economies, Toyota has decided to halt production of its cars in the UK and France for next 12 days. The company will stop production of its cars in Britain and France from next Monday to Friday and then again from April 06 to April 09. The first halt is stated for the falling sales while the second halt is for preparation of the production of new models.

"One of the reasons has to do with revising our sales plans due to the negative effects of the recalls," said the spokesman, Paul Nolasco. "The other reason is that we are getting ready to build a new hybrid vehicle in our UK plant. In that case it is very customary to close a plant for a few days, or even a few weeks."

Toyota has recalled more than eight million models worldwide due to acceleration problems in its various models. The problem has caused 68 deaths in the US alone. Toyota is not only facing class action lawsuits but has also been summoned by the US Congress for a hearing.
