Owners of Tesla’s Model X, the electric SUV, have complained on numerous occasions about how these fabulous looking doors are unable to open and shut in the intended way. While Tesla’s latest software update will help address the problem, owners will regain access to all doors by pressing a button on the key fob.

Earlier this week, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk admitted, “The software that controls the Model X and the operation of the doors has been incredibly difficult to refine.” He went on to specify that it was incredibly difficult to refine the complex set of sensors to work well, but now believes Tesla is almost there in making the doors useful.

The engineering of the falcon-wing doors that are equipped on the Tesla Model X have seen enough rough weather. Tesla dropped the use of a hydraulic actuation system which had a lot of concerns. It overheated and leaked. With only a few months left at that time before hitting the production line, Tesla had to build an electric actuation system.
