Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL), a two-wheeler manufacturing unit of the Japanese auto giant Suzuki Motors, has suspended three of its workers union leaders on Friday. The company’s action was followed by a tense situation at the plant, hinting towards yet another worker’s strike in the coming days.

The union leaders suspended by the company include Suzuki Motorcycles Employees Union (SMEU) vice president Praminder Kumar, SMEU General Secretary Avinash Kumar and Secretary Gulshan Kumar.

Speaking on the matter, Mr. Anil Munjal, Suzuki's Vice President (HR), alleged that suspended workers were indulged in a brawl with senior officers of the company, and the company had taken disciplinary action against them.

The Union Secretary Gambhir Singh on the other hand has alleged the company management of spoiling the working environment at the plant, in addition to that at the meeting on Sep 12 last year; workers were told that they would get their incentives in maximum six months' time. On Wednesday, when they took up the matter with Vice President (HR), he started abusing them.
