      Tata Motors registers impressive sales of 92,119 units in February 2012

      Tata Motors, India’s prominent automobile giant registered total sales of 92,119 vehicles in February 2012, which is 19% more than same period of previous year. This sales figure is for both Tata commercial and passenger vehicles, which also comprises export percentage.

      Against domestic sales of 73,039 units of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in February 2011, the company sold 86,704 in February 2012 registering 19% growth. For the fiscal, cumulative sales (including exports) of 806,354 units has been recorded compared to 719,976 vehicles sold during the same period last year. Hence, the company attained 12% growth this year.

      Compared to total sale and distribution offtake of 33,751 units (1,842 Fiat and 31,909 Tata) in February 2011, 36,536 units (1,704 Fiat and 34,832 Tata) have been recorded in February 2012, which is 8% higher. Against 31,909 units of Tata passenger vehicles sold in February 2011, the company managed to sell 34,832 vehicles this year during the same period thereby registering 9% growth.

      12% growth has been recorded in the sales of Tata Nano as the company sold 9,217 in February 2012 against 8,262 units last year. Indicia sales also increased 4% in February 2012 as 10,044 cars were sold by the company compared to 10,044 units during the same period of previous year.

      However, 4% downfall has been registered in the sales of Indigo as 8,595 units were sold in February 2012 as against 8,966 units of last February. Against sales of 4,637 units of Tata Safari, Aria, Venture, and Sumo in February last year, the company managed to sell 6,596 units in 2012, during the same period.

      Compared to 41,130 commercial vehicles, which were sold in the domestic market last February, the company sold 51,872 units in February 2012 marking 26% growth.  Against 23,498 units of LCVs sold in February 2011, 32,540 units were sold this year during the same period driving the growth to 38%. Tata Motors sold 17,632 units of M&HCV units last February compared to 19,332 units during the same period this year thereby pushing the growth to 10%.

      For the fiscal, commercial vehicles cumulative sales have reached to 471,917 units due to which 19% growth has been attained over last year.  Over last year, 26% growth has been register in the cumulative LCVs sales as the company sold 286,880 units in February 2012.185,037 units cumulative sales of M&HCV has been achieved by the company this fiscal, which is 10% more than last February.

      In February 2011, distribution offtake and cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in India has been registered 290,037 units (270836 Tata and 19,201 Fiat), which increased to 291,406 vehicles (276,726 Tata and 14,680 Fiat) this February. Against 270,836 units of cumulative sales of Tata passenger vehicles last February, the company sold 276,726 units this year.

      Compared to 61,725 cumulative sales of Nanto in February 2011, the company managed to sell 64,052 units this fiscal driving the growth to 4%. The cumulative sales of Indica range in February 2011 were 90,914 units which increased to 94,286 units this February. Compared to 80,722 units cumulative sales of Indigo range till February last year, this year the company sold 69,438 cars, which is 14% less. Against 37,475 units cumulative sales of Safari, Sumo, Venture, and Aria till February 2011, Tata motors sold 48,950 units this February, driving growth to 31%.

      The company exported 4,504 vehicles in February 2012 against 5,415 units, which was registered for similar period last year. Hence, 20% export growth has been attained by the company. For this fiscal cumulative sales from exports have been reported 57,711 units against 52,112 units of February 2011 pushing the growth by 11%.
