      Tata Motors global sales jumped by 21 percent in Dec 2010

      The Indian auto giant Tata Motors said on Friday that its global sales increased by 21% in the month of December 2010. The company sold a total of 90,294 units of its vehicles worldwide amidst massive demand for commercial vehicles (CVs).

      However, the luxury car sales of company’s British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) remained flat at 21,353 units during December, accounting a marginal increase of 1% over the sales of same month preceding year.

      As per the data issued by the company, where the sales of luxury vehicles of Land Rover was up by 4 percent at 17,021 units, Jaguar brand sales was down by 10 per cent last month at 4,332 units.

      The total passenger vehicle sales of the company jumped by 13 per cent to 42,126 units in December 2010, as compared to the same month previous year. On the other hand, the total commercial vehicle sales of the company stood at 48,168 units, up by 29 percent over the sales in Dec 2009.

      In the first nine months of current financial year (April to December), Tata Motors sold a total of 7,68,834 units of its vehicle, accounting for a jump of 29 percent over the sales in same period previous year.

      Globally, the total sales of Tata Motors Group include Tata passenger vehicles along with Jaguar and Land Rover, commercial vehicle range of Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera.
