      Tata Bolt hatchback - Everything you want to know

      Tata Motors, the home-grown automaker has finally introduced the much-awaited Bolt hatchback in the country. The small hatchback is equipped with a series of segment leading features. After Zest, the Bolt is the second product under the company’s HORIZONEXT umbrella. Available in four trim levels- XE, XM, XMS and the top-spec XT, the Tata Bolt hatchback in the price range of Rs. 4.44 lakh to Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

      Dimensionally, the Tata Bolt hatchback is 3,825mm long, 1,695mm wide and 1,562mm high. The hatchback gets a large wheelbase of 2,470mm, while the ground clearance stands at 165mm. This hatchback offers a decent boot space of 210-litres, and a fuel tank capacity of 44-litres. The flared wheel arches of the car have been fitted to 15-inch alloy wheels.

      Engine Specifications: The Tata Bolt hatchback is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol version gets the REVOTRON 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit that is capable of producing 89bhp at 5,000rpm and 140Nm of peak torque at 1,500-4,000rpm. The engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox which sends power to the front wheels of the car. The vehicle is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.57kmpl. The diesel version of the hatch is powered by a 1.3-litre Quadrajet motor, paired to a five-speed gearbox, which is capable of producing 74bhp at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 190Nm between 1,750-3,000rpm. It is claimed to return an excellent fuel economy of 22.95kmpl.

      Suspension and Braking System: The Tata Bolt suspension system comprises of McPherson strut with anti-roll bar and coil spring at front and Semi-independent torsion beam with coil spring and shock absorber at rear. The front gets disc type brakes while the rear gets drum brakes. In terms of safety features, the Tata Bolt hatchback gets driver and front passenger airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution, engine immobilizer, etc.
