Ssangyong is gearing up for an all-new generation of the Actyon Sports pick up. The first prototype of the same has been spotted undergoing handling tests in northern Scandinavia.
The second generation of the Ssangyong Actyon Sports was launched back in 2012. The highly camouflaged test mule seems to have a lesser raked A-pillar as compared to the current model. The overhangs are now larger, the wheels seem bigger, rear passenger door appears wider, and the stance more upright. The tailgate and the overall rear, however, seems to have remained unchanged along with the cargo bed.
With a more SUV-ish stance, the Korean manufacturer may be looking to position the Actyon as a proper SUV, rather than a “Ute pickup”. The car also seems to have grown in size to overcome the cramped cabin space complaints. The powertrain for the pick-up would remain the same. Therefore the 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 150bhp and 360Nm. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Ssangyong calls it the Actyon Sports Ute. The lifestyle pick-up truck body replaced the coupe-like SUV of the same name in many international markets and is based on the same platform as other SUVs in the Ssangyong family. It is also called SsangYong Musso, Korando Sports or Tradie in different markets around the worlds. Primarily sold in markets such as UK, New Zealand, Australia, Ecuador, and the Middle East. The new Actyon Sports twin-cab pickup is expected to take the roads by 2019.
