American automaker Ford has updated its popular selling SUV Endeavour with an all-new SYNC 3 infotainment system. Till now the SUV was offered with SYNC 2 system and the new upgrade additionally comes with voice-activated in-car technology. For now, the SYNC 3 system is only offered on the top of the line Titanium variant which is priced at Rs 27.93 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new SYNC 3 system gets an 8-inch touchscreen unit and claims to be faster and user friendly when it comes to responding to voice commands. The system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and also gets features like Emergency Assistance that automatically calls emergency services via a paired phone in case of an accident wherein the airbags have been deployed. The SYNC 3 provides easy access to smartphone apps, automatic software updates via wifi and Siri Eyes-Free capability for iPhones.

Speaking about the SYNC 3 system, Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India said, SYNC has always has been about providing a safer way for customers to stay connected, even on the move with their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. With SYNC 3, we are keeping pace with the dynamic technology landscape - making it easier for customers to stay connected while driving, irrespective of their choice of smartphone, apps or services inside and outside their vehicle.”

Ford Endeavour continues to be powered by existing 2.2 litre TDCi and 3.2 litre TDCi diesel engines which are paired to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Cosmetically, the vehicle does not get any upgrades either. The 2.2L AT Titanium variant is now priced at Rs 27.93 lakh which makes it around Rs 43,000 more than the older pricing, while the 3.2L AT Titanium variant is now priced at Rs 30.89 lakh thereby witnessing a hike of around Rs 1.13 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

On face value, the Endeavour price hike may seem to be a little high, however it still comes off as a better option when compared to the Toyota’s Fortuner. The top spec Endeavour 4x4 automatic not just offers a bigger engine and better infotainment system, but is also around cheaper by a little over four lakhs as compared to the Toyota Fortuner top-spec version which is priced at Rs 36.40 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
