Skoda Auto India, a completely owned subsidiary of the German multinational auto major Volkswagen Group, is working towards the launch of its 3rd generation Octavia sedan in the domestic market by the end of 2013 calendar year. Evidently, the company recorded some very impressive sales with its Octavia model in the country, but later removed it, owing to make room for its Laura saloon.
The upcoming 2013 Skoda Octavia saloon is anticipated to be launched in both petrol and diesel guises. The Czech auto major will be pinning great many hopes with its Octavia model, which was its best selling product in the country when it was offered in the market. At present, Skoda Auto India offers five car lines to the domestic car enthusiasts- Fabia premium hatch and Rapid, Laura and Superb sedans along with Yeti compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
The yet-to-be launched 2013 Skoda Octavia premium sedan will be based on Volkswagen's critically acclaimed and cutting-edge 'Modularer Querbaukasten' (MQB) Modular Transverse Matrix platform. Further, the new Octavia model will be longer and wider than its Laura sibling. The interiors are expected to be spacious and laden with best-in-class comfort and convenience attributes.
Coming to under-the-hood specifications of the yet-to-be launched 3rd generation Skoda Octavia, the stylish saloon is anticipated to come fitted with a 1.4 litre engine in its petrol version, whereas the diesel model will incorporate a 1.6 litre motor. Skoda Auto India will be pitching its Skoda sedan between the Rapid and Laura models in the domestic passenger car market. Industry experts believe that the Czech auto major could introduce its new 2013 Octavia saloon with above Rs. 10 lakhs price tag in India. However, nothing concrete can be said regarding the car's pricing at the moment.
