      Skoda Clocks Higher Sales in India

      Skoda Auto India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Skoda Auto which is a part of Volkswagen group. It clocked 98 percent higher sales in the month of October where it sold 1752 units against 887 units last year. Festive season in India has been especially good for the auto manufacturers this year. Nearly every auto manufacturer is expected to report double digit sales figure percentage for the October month and Skoda is also no exception.

      Skoda Auto India Pvt. Ltd manufactures high-end sedans such as the Superb, Octavia and Laura. It has also seen a considerable increase in the waiting period. Prospective Superb buyers have been asked to wait between eight and ten weeks for delivery. “Overall demand will continue to move up,” said Ashutosh Dixit, senior general manager, sales and network development at Skoda Auto India.

      Skoda also assembles hatchback model Fabia in India. It has its plant in Maharashtra capable of manufacturing 30,000 units annually. It is also coming up with its second manufacturing plant with Volkswagen near Pune which will be completed by early next year. Skoda is not only the largest European car maker in the country but also the fastest growing automobile brand. It currently holds 25 percent share in the luxury sedan segment and Skoda Superb is one of its most popular models.
