Renault’s Kadjar has been spotted once again on the streets of China. This version is made locally and will hit Chinese showrooms in 2016.
Rumours have it that the car maker is possibly getting ready to launch this Renault crossover in March this year. Prices have been speculated to range from around 140,000 yuan to about 170,000 yuan (Rs 14.4 to 17.4 lakh). At this price point, the Renault Kadjar will have its competition chalked out in the form of the new Mazda CX-4.
Chinese customers will get to experience the Kadjar with the option of either a 1.2-litre or a 1.6-litre turbocharged motor. Both are four-cylinder petrol engines that are coupled to a six-speed manual or a CVT box. While the 1.2-litre motor has an output of 114bhp and 190Nm of torque, the 1.6-litre will produce 147bhp along with a torque figure of 240Nm.
The Renault Kadjar will be manufactured in China by the Dongfeng-Renault joint venture and is based on the same platform as the Nissan Qashqai, which already rolls out of the Dongfeng-Nissan production plant in China.
