The domestic subsidiary of the United States of America based all-terrain and off-road vehicle maker, Polaris Industries, has launched an 1131 cc V-twin engine bike with the name Indian Scout. This bike is tagged at 11.99 lakh INR (ex-showroom Delhi). It will be available at the dealerships of the company in India. Currently, the brand has dealerships at New Delhi, Nagaland, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Kolkata, Srinagar, Jaipur, Indore, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Cochin, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director of the Indian subsidiary, was present at the announcement of the launch of the Indian Scout. He said, “The launch of the Indian Scout in the United States has proved to be successful in stirring a new wave of enthusiasm. The launch just added another feather in our effort to revive the history of Indian Motorcycle. The launched model is designed to possess the heritage of the past, blended with modern technology. We are now giving Indian enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of history in a modern package by booking their own Indian Scout.”

The look of the all-new has revived the traditional triangular design, which is so characteristic of the original Scouts. A set of premium coil is coupled over monotube rear shockers, which is what gives the bike its amazing drivability. The ultra-masculine looks of all its models is a reason why Polaris is so popular and has that edge over other bikes on road.

The all-new Indian scout has been ergonomically designed so that the buyers can cruise with this model no matter how tough the roads are. This model has a 25.3 inch seat designed exclusively for comfort. The wheelbase is at 61.5 inch with a 5.3 inch ground clearance that makes sure that comfort is not compromised even on bumpier roads. Such specifications also allow 31 degrees of lean angle and an exceptionally low centre of gravity. This allows an increased balance when it comes to driving the Indian Scout, with efficient manoeuvring at both high and low speeds. The seat has been done from premium and genuine tan leather and the solo bucket design gives a pure Indian touch to the Scout.

The Indian Scout has no holds barred when it comes to delivering power. It has a brand new and indigenously designed 1131 cc V-twin engine, which has combined all the power, design and reliability into one and at the same time has come up with the unique trademark Scout characteristic. The engine is mellow despite the high-end specifications, which has made it unbeatable and is likely to be a success on Indian roads. State-of-the-art components have been utilised to develop the model and ultra-modern technologies have been installed to make this bike a super success story. The bike delivers 100 HP of power with a liquid cooled design, with a unique sense of reliability and durability.

The superior engine design and styling has been a legend for the Scout models right from the beginning. The past models during the era of 1920s, 30s and so on were a benchmark in themselves and way ahead of the rest during that time. Definitely, the recent model has held on to the classic nature, which is so common to this line of bikes. Indeed, that has been the major point for these bikes down the line, which are known for combining style, perfection and power like no other. The closed-loop fuel injection system and driving with wire throttle actuation together mated with a 6-speed overdrive transmission, which generates a peak torque of 72 feet per pound at a jaw-dropping 5900 rpm.

The bike has a gross weight of 253 kg, which makes it quite bulky and needs muscle to manoeuvre. However, the distribution of weight has been done so efficiently that once the engine starts, the bike just mellows smoothly around with no appearance whatsoever of the bulky weight. It is expected that the bike will find a great appeal to the community of bikers who look for cruiser models for the Indian roads.
