Nissan Sunny, the much awaited starting range sedan in the Indian market, which will be launched in the country in upcoming festive season in October, will be available for bookings from next month.
The Nissan Sunny model was recently displayed at a small ceremony held in Mumbai. As per the recent media reports, the new Sunny sedan will be rolled-out in the country with a different name. The car is already available in a few foreign markets including China where it has been receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers.
The car is widely speculated to be launched in the price segment of sub Rs 7 lakh, where it will be taking on the likes of Maruti SX4, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Toyota Etios. The Nissan Sunny sedan will be produced at the company’s Chennai plant where it already manufactures compact hatchback Micra. The Chennai plant of the company has a capacity scalable to 4,00,000 units.
Besides this sedan, the company plans to roll-out a series of new car models in the Indian market that comprises of the likes of a brand new sports utility vehicle and a new small car, by next year.
Meanwhile, the company has planned to triple fold its sales figures to 40,000 units in the Indian auto market by the end of this fiscal, as compared to mere 13,030 units sold in the same month last year
