      Nissan Micra sales stood at 1,057 units in India during December 2010

      Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL), an Indian unit of leading Japanese auto maker Nissan, has registered total sales of 1,104 units in December 2010. The recently launched compact hatchback Micra accounted for more than 90 per cent of the total sales of Nissan India during this month by clocking sales of 1,057 units. The company had managed to sell mere 12 units of its cars during the December 2009.

      The Nissan Micra hatchback was launched in the Indian market in July 2010 and its sales stood at 928 units in the initial month of launch. In December 2010, the company had rolled-out a diesel version of Micra in the country which further strengthen the position of Micra series in the highly competitive compact hatchback segment. So far, Nissan has received about 6,441 bookings for Micra in the country. The company had initially opened the bookings for this car in India, in July 2010.

      While informing about the total sales of other cars of its India portfolio the company said in a statement, "Out of the remaining, Teana, the luxury sedan (CBU) clocked 14 units and X-trail -- the lifestyle SUV (CBU) -- registered sales of 31 units. Nissan also sold 2 units of its iconic sports car, 370Z in December 2010."
