Just a few months after rolling out the diesel version of its mid size sedan Sunny in the country, the Indian units of Japanese auto giant launched the Nissan Sunny diesel in the country on Monday. The all new Nissan Sunny diesel has been shelved in the price segment of Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 8.78 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi Price). The decision of launching the Sunny diesel just a few months after launching the petrol variant has been taken to capitalize on the increasing demand for the diesel run cars in the Indian market.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan Motors India chief executive and managing director, said, "We are delighted to introduce the diesel variant of the Sunny. At a time when the market is witnessing an increase in demand for diesel cars, Sunny diesel, with high fuel economy will be the right choice for our valued customers."
Loaded with a 1.5L 4 cylinder diesel engine at its heart, the Nissan Diesel model is capable of delivering peak power of 86 bhp at 3,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 200 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The fuel economy of the car is 21.64 km per liter (as certified by ARAI).
The all new Nissan Sunny Diesel has been offered in a number of exciting colors including Brick Red, Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black, Storm White, Bronze Grey and Blade Silver. The major attractions of the car include EBD (Electronic Break force Distribution), brake assist, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), engine immobilizer, and airbags.
While further elaborating the company’s strategy, Nissan's Marketing & Sales partner, Hover Automotive India, Mr. G M Singh, VC & MD, said, "Introduction of Sunny is another major milestone in Nissan's efforts to grow fast in the Indian market which is growing at much faster pace compared to many other parts of the world now.
