New generation BMW X5, one of the much anticipated luxury sports utility vehicle among the SUV lovers and enthusiasts, was recently spotted testing in the company’s base market Germany. The car is scheduled to be launched in the global market in the second half of year 2012. It was sort of winter testing, which was being done near BMW’s plant in Germany. However, as the new SUV was covered fully in the camouflaging, determining the impact of the new changes at the exterior of the car was not possible.

While the engine options and specifications are expected to remain same as before, the new generation BMW X5 will be carrying a series of cosmetic changes at both exterior and interior fronts. However, the company is expected to add one more engine option in the available range, known as Active Hybrid variant.

The BMW engineers have tried to reduce the weight of the car considerably by using ultra light alloys and aluminum in the production of this model. As per the industry reports, the new generation BMW X5 models will be carrying newly designed head lights and tail lights, along with a number of small changes at the front profile.
