Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury carmaker, has officially unveiled the 2016 GLE. Scheduled to make its global debut at the New York Auto Show, the GLE is basically the facelifted M-Class with company's new nomenclature. The vehicle has a familiar design, but it comes with a new front fascia with revised grille and new headlamps. At the rear end, the GLE features new LED taillights and a sportier exhaust system.
The AMG variant of the SUV gets sportier front bumper, a single bar grille and newly styled 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels with a titanium grey finish. It also has a rear diffuser and a four-tailpipe exhaust system. Inside the cabin, the vehicle sports a new multi-functional steering wheel and a new freestanding infotainment system. The color palette is also new that includes ginger beige, espresso brown, saddle brown and porcelain. Customers can also order aluminum, carbon fiber, piano black, brown eucalyptus, brown ash and brown burred walnut.
The petrol engines include a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 and a twin-turbo 4.7-litre V8 engine that produce 333PS/480Nm and 435PS/700NM, respectively. The oil burners are the 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbocharged and a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged engine producing 204PS/480Nm and 258PS/620Nm. The GLE 63 AMG is powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 engine that produces 557PS of power and 700Nm of peak torque. The car accelerates to 100kmph from zero in 4.3 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. The more powerful GLE 63 AMG S produces 585PS and 760Nm of torque. This model sprints to 100kmph from zero in just 4.2 seconds.
