Ford India has officially announced that the first car to be rolled out from its new Sanand facility will be the Figo compact sedan. The company also revealed that the Figo compact sedan will be named as Figo Aspire. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show as concept, the Figo Aspire will be launched by the early 2015.

Based on the new generation Ford Figo platform, the new compact sedan has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on Indian roads. It will be a sub-4 metre sedan, and rival against the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest. The platform is basically the updated version of the previous generation Fiesta platform, which has higher strength and lighter steel structure to save weight.

The Figo Aspire looks aggressive and has aerodynamic creases that run across the length of the car. The front fascia of the car has trapezoidal grille, sweptback large headlamps, large bumper with wide air dam and a pair of fog lamps. It features outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, boomerang shaped rear-taillights and a silver diffuser on the rear bumper.

The Ford Figo Aspire will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol engine is the new 1.2-litre TiVCT engine that produces 80PS, the oil burner is the 1.5-litre unit that also powers the Fiesta and EcoSport. The company might also introduce the 1.5-litre petrol engine with twin-clutch powershift transmission.
