The wait for Ferrari fans is finally over. The Italian car manufacturer has officially unveiled the all-new 488 Spider and it is possibly the nicest looking convertible that all car lovers are surely going to adore. The brand has confirmed that it will be simply known as 488 Spider and not anything else like 488 GTS as rumoured. The 488 Spider will make its official world debut this September at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The 488 replaces the mechanically similar 458 Spider that has been adored by car fans everywhere. Talking about 488’s new look, the vents on its rear deck are given a different shape. While structuring the vents, it has been kept in mind that more air is circulated around the car’s force-fed mill.

The rest of the 488 Spider is full with the same goods found in the 488 GTB. This includes its twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine, which generates 660 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. In addition to this, all of the mechanical bits match to those of 488 GTB. Such bits include seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, active aero components and side slip control 2 handling feature. Thanks to its retractable hard top that make this Spider version unique.

Likely 458 Spider, the 488’s aluminum space frame is designed out of number of materials. This ensures that its torsional rigidity and beam stiffness remain identical to the fixed-roof version. In simple words, the car will handle corners faster and sharper than any Ferrari convertible before it. The roof merely takes 14 seconds to go up or down.

Highlights say that complex aero elements around the body are the key addition. These elements ensure that this new Spider version is the most aerodynamically efficient open-top Ferrari ever built. All the rest of the features include a blown spoiler and an aerodynamic underbody with vortex generators. This will set boost in downforce with a reduction in drag.

In-car comfort best adds to the advantages of convertible Spider. The glass wind deflector at the rear can be adjusted to any of the three positions to render utmost comfort when you are in. Counting on the performance numbers, the turbocharged engine puts out 0-62 mph speed in 3 seconds and 124 mph in 8.7 seconds. The highest speed will be somewhere in excess of 200 mph.
