      National Energy Conservation Award given to Mahindra & Mahindra

      At a recent ceremony, well-known auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra was given the National Energy Conservation Award 2013. To be a little specific, the production plant of this firm, located in Zaheerabad, Andhra Pradesh, was given this prestigious accolade. Notably, the Zaheerabad facility has won this award seven times in the past, which shows the kind of commitment that exists. Indian auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra is known throughout the globe for its endeavours in developing environmental friendly technologies. In recent times, the firm has been pretty active in promoting the subsidy policy for electric vehicle production in India. Manufacturing facilities of this company, over the years, have been constantly appreciated for the application of efficient steps for conservation of energy. Due to these consistent efforts, nationwide organisations have recognised its efforts and felicitating Mahindra & Mahindra with numerous awards.

      This award is given on the basis of the electricity and energy consumption levels that are utilised by manufacturing plants. The panel that makes judgements for this award was formed in 1991 and since then, the Zaheerabad plant of Tata Motors has been a consistent performer. Accolades are given in other fields as well, thereby emphasising on the need of energy conservation throughout the country. In fact, 14th December, in India, is observed as 'National Energy Conservation Day'. Also, 'Energy Conservation Week' is celebrated in the country from 9th December to 14th December. This year's event was organised in Vigyan Bhawan, which is located in New Delhi. Honourable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee was present at the ceremony along with Jyotiradtiya M. Scindia, the Union Minister for Power.

      Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Energy Conservation Award to the official from Mahindra & Mahindra. The company, on its part, is delighted to receive this prestigious honour and is looking towards showing the same commitment and dedication. Pravin Shah, Chief Executive at the Automotive Division of Mahindra & Mahindra, spoke about this development and how it has boosted the firm's morale further. “It is our privilege and honour to receive such a prestigious award from the Honourable President of India. This recognition validates our efforts in sustainable manufacturing to offer value to our customers and thereby benefit the society at large.
