The Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi Motors, is all set to launch hybrid version of its popular luxury car – Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution – in the Indian market very soon. It has been a long time since the company was planning to introduce this car in the Indian market, and now finally it has officially announced to roll-out this new Lancer variant in the country.
While further informing about the new Lancer Evolution Hybrid model, the President, Mitsubishi Motors, Mr Osamu Masuko said, "We will start work on the project next year, and it will be ready within three years. I have set the goal of developing a sporting car featuring electric power."
The news of the launch of new hybrid version of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution came as a surprise for many, as the company had earlier announced to stop the production of the Lancer Evolution X, stating that current generation model will be the last one in the series. But now, the company has decided to continue with the car by launching new generation Lancer Evolution very soon.
The next generation Mitsubishi Hybrid Lancer Evolution X will not only be leaving less carbon footprints in the environment, but will also be delivering a higher maximum power of over 350 bhp, as compared to 291 bhp of the current model of Lancer Evolution X, thanks to the addition of new electric motor delivering 63 bhp.
