The latest spy shots of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe shows the test car equipped with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), along with a camouflaged front bumper, and jewelled head light internals.
Reports state that the test mule’s front wheels have a hub which looks like it incorporates a kinetic energy recovery system. This technology is currently used in Formula One cars and results in a considerable increase in performance. It gets the kinetic energy produced by the brakes to spin a flywheel which generates the extra power.
This test car had an analog instrument cluster which could probably be replaced by a digital screen (similar to the E-Class) before the car gets launch. Also, Mercedes is expected to use the E-Class' new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel motor instead of the current 2.1-litre diesel engine. However, the petrol motors and transmissions will continue to do duty in the refreshed model.
There has been no confirmation from Mercedes-Benz regarding the introduction of the facelifted C-Class coupe, but expect it to debut internationally in early 2018.
