      Mercedes Benz tests its B-Class in China before launch

      Mercedes Benz India, the renowned luxury car maker has disclosed its plans of launching B-Class as a Sports Tourer in the country during the festive season. Before introducing in India, Mercedes will launch the new B –Class in China through the Beijing-Benz JV. The company is currently testing this car in China. It is the first time that Mercedes Benz is moving ahead to introduce a compact premium car for the Indian market. As per reports, the car will come with a price tag ranging between Rs. 20 lacs and Rs. 25 lacs.

      Mercedes will locally produce the new B-Class in India whereas the Chinese customers will get imported cars. The new compact car is perfect combination of old and new engines. Both petrol and diesel engine arrangements are reported to be made by the company. As per information disclosed by the company, 1.8 litre engine will be provided in both petrol and diesel variants of this compact car. Seven speed dual clutch transmission gearbox (7G-DCT) is provided for easy shift of gears.

      Compared to the earlier version, the new B-class sports a matured design. The new car is reported to have Blind Spot, Pre-Safe and Lane Assist. In China, the 1.8-liter turbo petrol model of B-Class will carry price tag of Rs. 24.23 lacs. The company has already launched the new B-Class in UK and many European countries where it is running successfully.
