The tussle of supremacy between the German luxury car makers BMW and Mercedes Benz is getting intensified, with both of these car makers working aggressively to acquire the top spot in the global market. Mercedes Benz recently managed to outshine the rival BMW in US market by grabbing higher sales numbers in the month of October.

The total sales of Mercedes Benz stood at 22,637 units as compared to 21,873 units sold by BMW in the US market during the month under review. The total sales growth of Mercedes was 23 percent during the month as compared to BMW’s growth figures of 13 percent.

The major contributor to the sales of Mercedes Benz was its all new C-Class sedan, which is continuously gaining popularity in the US market. The comparatively slower sales of BMW forced it to offer up to 35 percent increased discount s as compared to 13 percent decline in the discounts offered by Mercedes Benz.

In last 10 months, Mercedes Benz dealers have managed to sell 192,695 units of their popular C Class sedan in the US market, making it the top seller in that market. On the other hand, the sales of Toyota Lexus and General Motors, have dipped by 14 and 12 percent, respectively. Last year, Mercedes Benz had stood at the third spot in the US market, following Lexus and BMW at first and second place, respectively.
