The much awaited replacement of the existing GL-class, now called the GLS has been launched in India for Rs 80.40 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). This seven seat premium SUV is part of company’s plans to launch 12 new products in India this year.
Popularly known as the S-Class of SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz GLS has been launched with a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo diesel engine tuned to produce 255bhp of power and 620Nm of torque. The engine is mated to the new dual-clutch nine-speed automatic transmission that powers all four wheels.
The exterior gets fresh upgrades in form of a revised grille, tweaked headlamps and bumpers. The taillights have also been revised for a fresher appeal. The interiors get wood finished dashboard panel and premium upholstery featuring high-grade Nappa leather. The SUV also gets an eight inch touchscreen infotainment display with a touch pad, panoramic sunroof and 360 camera view.
In terms of safety, the Mercedes Benz GLS comes with safety features like re-safe system, brake assist, electronic all- wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP, and cruise control.
